Top class performer Boban is now on track to compete in an enthralling $4 million Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m at Royal Randwick during The Championships on April 19.

The gelding returned to his best with an emphatic win in last weekend’s Group One Chipping Norton Stakes [1600m] at Warwick Farm, where he downed reigning Queen Elizabeth favourite, It's a Dundeel.

Boban had been beaten in his first two starts since returning from a spell but was reunited with jockey Glyn Schofield who won his sixth race on Boban and the pair remains undefeated.

“This is a huge thrill,’’ Waller said.  “I don’t think Boban’s first two runs were all that bad but I was aware of the criticism.

“You hear all the criticism of the horse and you second guess yourself and in those early days it was hard, but now I can back myself and we didn’t change anything with him.

“The difference was Glyn. He has confidence in Boban and brings out the best in the horse.  Some jockeys just click with certain horses.”
