For more than three decades Jim Cassidy has been one of the most popular jockeys on the Australian racing scene.  New Zealand born, Cassidy moved to Australia in 1982 with more than 500 winners to his name.  As an 18-year-old, he fittingly cemented himself into his new scene with a famous last-to-first victory on Kiwi in the 1983 Group 1-Melbourne Cup.
Cassidy carries the nickname ‘The Pumper’ for his distinctive pumping action in the saddle which often got the best out of his mounts, including Might and Power in the 1997 Gr 1-Caulfield Cup which was a modern day record-winning margin of 7.5 lengths.
Cassidy was awarded membership of the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2012 and last November reached the rare milestone of 100 Group One winners after the talented Zoustar trounced his rivals in the Ascot Vale Stakes (1200m).
